Who We Are

At the Intersection of Giving and Action

Created in 1985, the Community Foundation of Collier County is a tax-exempt, public charitable foundation. The true value of our work extends deep into the community. In partnership with our donors, grant recipients and local leaders, we respond to the needs of the community and seed innovation.

Our Mission

Working with donors, we inspire ideas, ignite action and mobilize resources to address community needs in Collier County. For Good. Forever.

Our History

The Community Foundation was incorporated in 1985 by local visionaries who believed that a community foundation in Naples could help charitable-minded people create legacies for the immediate and future needs of the area.

Did You Know?

William Oberhelman

William Oberhelman, a retired businessman from Cincinnati, Ohio, and Donald T. Franke, a well-known Naples attorney, joined forces, put together a board and raised $300,000 to fund the fledgling organization’s permanent charitable endowment. Bill Oberhelman was named the first executive director and Don Franke was chairman of the Board of Trustees. Thanks to their early dedication, today the foundation has a sustainable source of income to meet the ever-changing needs of Collier County.
