Residential Options of Florida
Residential Options of Florida (ROOF) and its partner, Community Foundation of Collier County, is pleased to sponsor a Groundbreaking Ceremony for Independence Place Bayshore. This worthwhile endeavor will provide supportive housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The groundbreaking will be held at 2805 Van Buren Avenue in Naples on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 9:00 a.m.
ROOF understands that individuals with developmental disabilities, along with their families and advocates, have long grappled with concerns about where they will live. Many life events can trigger a change in living arrangements, resulting in a need to consider housing options. Residential Options of Florida (ROOF) was created to provide options for people with developmental disabilities who want to live in the community and pursue independence by living in permanent supportive housing.
Independence Place Bayshore will consist of one single-family home which will be operated as a Supported Living Unit. The home will be new construction that is designed with three bedroom/bathroom suites, each to be leased separately to an adult resident, age 18 or older, who has been determined eligible for services by the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD). The residence will also include a bedroom and bathroom for a live-in caregiver.
Independence Place Bayshore was made possible with funding from the Community Foundation of Collier County, Florida Housing Finance Corporation, Truist, and in-kind services from MHK Architecture and Planning. Additionally, MHK Architecture and Planning assisted ROOF with preparing for the groundbreaking.
