Legal Aid Service of Collier County

Legal Aid Service of Collier County (‘LASCC’) is pleased to announce the impact of a $15,000 grant it received from the Community Foundation of Collier County.

The General Operating Support grant proceeds furnished were used over the last 12 months to help sustain LASCC’s capacity to assist those in need. LASCC was able to provide life-changing free civil legal services to 2,425 clients during the term of the grant. These services benefitted 7,424 household members.

LASCC prioritizes providing legal services designed to keep clients safe, healthy, and able to meet basic needs such as food and shelter.

The General Operating Support grant provided by the Community Foundation of Collier County came at a time of great need by both LASCC and the clients it serves.

“The Community Foundation of Collier County has provided vital support to our Legal Aid program over many years, helping our program to survive, grow, and thrive as we assist thousands of clients each year who depend on us when they face a truly life-changing legal matter and can’t afford an attorney,” states Jeff Ahren, LASCC’s Director of Development. “This particular grant was especially important as we wanted to be there for those who sought our help during these unprecedented times despite facing budgetary challenges related to the pandemic. We are so grateful for this generous support, which is another example of how the Community Foundation of Collier County rises to the occasion during times of crisis and hardship.”

The Community Foundation of Collier County awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. Selected organizations receive grant dollars from the Changing Needs Fund. This Fund is made up of donors who believe in the Community Foundation’s ability to identify and grant to the most community’s most current needs.
