Establish a Fund

Getting Started

Nothing illustrates your passion in Collier County better than starting a fund with the Community Foundation. When you establish a fund, you are making a lasting impact on the community together with other members of the Community Foundation family.

We are here to help you fulfill your passion, with experts who can assist you with everything from choosing the right type of fund for you, to deciding what you want to name your fund. Most importantly, the Community Foundation will always be here to protect your intentions and ensure the impact will continue according to your wishes.

If you are already working with an estate planning attorney or CPA, know that the Community Foundation brings expertise to work with these professionals and complement what they are already doing. And we handle all the paperwork, like preparing a simple fund agreement letter and arranging to transfer your assets to the Community Foundation.

Here are some of the many other decisions the Community Foundation can assist you with:

  • Will you want restrictions to a field of interest or a specific agency?
  • Do you wish to participate in grantmaking decisions or leave that work up to the Community Foundation’s experts?
  • What types of assets will you use to establish a nonprofit endowment fund?
  • When should you give? Are you able to make an outright gift now or do you wish to consider using a planned gift to establish the fund? Note that a minimum of $10,000 is needed to establish the fund, which can be built up over time.
